The Main Window

System Information:

The System Information table shows the drivers currently being used by the probe, reports configuration problems,
and solutions for optimum probing.

Columns:

• Leave the cursor on any column button to summon a help balloon describing the column.
• Drag the column button edges to resize the column.

Information:

	Logical Network Id managed by the driver
	Interface name
	Driver type
	Driver Speed
	MAC address of the card managed by the driver
	Number of Rx errors
	Number of Tx errors
	Information or problems detected ("Probing in progress..." means optimum conditions)

Items:

• Leave the cursor on any column truncated item to summon a balloon showing full item.

Network Activity:

The Network Activity table shows a summary of your network traffic updated every 500ms.

Columns:

• Leave the cursor on any column button to summon a help balloon describing the column.
• Right click on column button with the mouse icon to switch the type of information being shown in the column.
• Drag the column button edges to resize the column.

Information:

	Number of hosts in the Host Table
	Number of IPs in the IP Table

	Number of host-to-host in the Host to Host Table
	Number of IP-to-IP in the IP to IP Table

Number of packets

	Range of size most encountered in packets
	Average size of packets

	Current packets per second
	Average packets per second
	Maximum packets per second

Number of bytes

	Current bits per second
	Average bits per second
	Maximum bits per second

	Number of multicast packets
	Number of broadcast packets

	Protocol used in last packet
	Last detailed protocol packet
	Supported protocol most encountered in packets

	Time of last packet
	Elapsed time between 2 last packets

Items:

Misc:

This icon is a mouse, the red button means that you can right click on the column button to switch the type of information shown in it

Protocol Distribution:

The Protocol Distribution table shows the type of protocol used in packets updated every 500ms.

Columns:

• Leave the cursor on any column button to summon a help balloon describing the column.
• Left click on any column button to sort the table using this column.

Information:

	Supported protocol name
	Number of packets for this protocol
	Number of bytes for this protocol
	Percent of packets with this protocol
	Graphic bar chart representing percent of packets with this protocol

Packets per second:

This window shows the number of packets per second evolution updated every 2 seconds.

Information:

	Current number of packets per second (the blue color is linked with the graphic trend)
	Average number of packets per second (the green color is linked with the graphic trend)
	Maximum number of packets per second (the pink color is linked with the graphic trend)

Misc:

• The gauge shows the current number of packets per second.
• The graphic trends show the Current/Average/Maximum packets per second evolution, up to 1 minute in the past.
• The gauge and graphic trends use an exponential scale.

Bits per second:

This window shows the number of bits per second evolution updated every 2 seconds.

Information:

	Current number of bits per second (the blue color is linked with the graphic trend)
	Average number of bits per second (the green color is linked with the graphic trend)
	Maximum number of bits per second (the pink color is linked with the graphic trend)

Misc:

• The gauge shows the current number of bits per second.
• The graphic trends show the Current/Average/Maximum bits per second evolution, up to 1 minute in the past.
• The gauge and graphic trends use an exponential scale.

Packet Size Distribution:

The Packet Size Distribution table shows the size of packets updated every 500 ms.

Columns:

• Leave the cursor on any column button to summon a help balloon describing the column.
• Left click on any column button to sort the table using this column.

Information:

	Range of packets size
	Number of packets within this size range
	Number of bytes within this size range
	Percent of packets within this size range
	Graphic bar chart representing percent of packets within this size range

Commands:

The Commands table let you open/close the different windows of the application.

Buttons:

	Open/Close the Host Table The Host Table shows every host receiving or transmitting on your network in real-time
	Open/Close the Host to Host Table The Host to Host Table shows every host-to-host traffic on your network in real-time
	Open/Close the IP Table The IP Table shows every IP receiving or transmitting on your network in real-time
	Open/Close the IP to IP Table The IP to IP Table shows every IP-to-IP traffic on your network in real-time
	Open/Close the Rx Packet Table The Rx Packet Table shows/captures every packets transmitted on your network
	Open/Close the Filter Table The Filter Table lets you filter packets from any Table using many criteria
	Open/Close the Action Table The Action Table lets you set actions (log,alarm,...) when certain packets are transmitted on your network
	Open/Close the IP Parser Table The IP Parser Table lets you link IP parsers to different IP protocols / ports
	Open/Close the Packet Decoder Window The Packet Decoder Window lets you view/edit fully decoded packets
	Open/Close the Tx Packet Table The Tx Packet Table lets you create/modify a list of packets and send them to the network
	Open/Close the Statistics Window The Statistics Window lets you see gaphic/detailed statistics of a host/host-to-host/ip/ip-to-ip
	Open/Close the Preferences & Utilities Window The Preferences & Utilities Windows lets you modify options and behavior of the application
	Pause/Resume the probe This button pauses or resumes the probe (useful to freeze the whole tables)
	Print the Main Window This button lets you print the Main Window
	Restart X packets before This button lets you restart X packets in the past (useful to see old packets when starting the application)

Misc:

• Leave the cursor on any button to summon a help balloon describing the button action and the keyboard shortcut.
• The number of packets you can see in the past depends on the size of the buffer you set using the application arguments.
